It’s International Women’s Day on 8th March and this year’s theme is ‘Pledge for Parity’. Women and men are being encouraged to help do their bit to try to speed up gender equality – something that is still, sadly, a long way off. The World Economic Forum predicts that global gender parity won’t be achieved until 2133.

A female collective

One way I like to think I’m helping is by being leader of a women’s business networking group. We meet every month, and every time we come together I’m completely blown away by the energy in the room. We all have different businesses and different home lives but our common goal is to help and support each other. We celebrate successes – vociferously and with glowing pride in each other’s achievements. We commiserate on setbacks – then rally around to find strategies to make the situation better.

As a female collective, there is a unity that bonds us together. The supportive relationship in the room is completely natural and genuine – there’s no question that we all want the very best for each other.

Together we share our hopes, dream and ambitions. And together we don’t just dare to believe we can achieve them – we absolutely know we can! Together, we are a force to be reckoned with.
