Make it happen!  It’s a fabulous mantra and it’s also this year’s theme for International Women’s Day on 8th March.

As a coach, I love working with women to help them discover what would make them really happy – whether that’s getting a great work/life balance, becoming more confident or setting up their own business – then helping them take steps to make it happen.

Clarity vs. uncertainty

Some of the women I see have a clear idea of what they want to achieve, but I also come across many women who are less certain.  They feel that they’re missing something in their life, but they don’t know what that ‘something’ is.  With these women, I help them to unravel their discontent and tune into what makes them happy, what inspires them, what gets them excited and bouncing out of bed in the morning.

Why not take some time today to think about these things yourself?  What makes you joyful?  What are you passionate about?  What makes your heart sing?  When were you happiest, and what was going on in your life at the time?  It may help to write down a list.  Then think about the negative forces in your life.  What sucks away your energy?  Do you have people in your life who bring you down, like a bullying boss or a toxic friend?  What makes you stressed?  Write these down, too. Use your lists to help you become clearer about any areas of your life that need changing.

Taking action

With clarity comes action.  Once you have your goal, your purpose, your ambition – or whatever else you want to call your new discovery – you can begin your journey to make it happen.  You are now free to believe that you can achieve your potential, realise your dream, find fulfilment and be happy.

International Women’s Day is a day to honour women around the world, to celebrate our achievements and to remind ourselves – should others try to make us forget – that we are a force to be reckoned with.  We can dream big and we can aim high.  We can be anyone and anything we want to be.  We can – and we will – make it happen!
