01 Aug What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) combines the evidence-based therapies of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy to provide a powerful and effective integrated therapy. It works by changing the way you think about yourself, your life and your surroundings .
Through hypnosis, in which a deep state of relaxation is usually experienced, the creative part of your mind is able to focus on and absorb positive suggestions given by the therapist for effective and long-lasting solutions. CBH is proven to generate fast results; using clear goals you will be able to measure your progress and notice positive changes taking place in a short space of time.
The British Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) both recognise the therapy. Following various evidence-based studies, NICE have concluded that of psychological treatments for anxiety and depression, CBT is the overall treatment of choice. They have also validated hypnotherapy as an evidence-based treatment of IBS, recommended equally with CBT. Very strong research shows that when hypnotherapy is combined with CBT, the resulting treatment is significantly more effective than CBT alone.
